5 Freelancer Hacks for 2019
Our top 5 tips on freelancing made easy
Whether you're new to freelancing, or an old-hat, try these 5 top tips to make your working life easier.
1. Work when you're at your best
We're not all designed to be 9-5ers. Some people work well in the morning, others are night owls, and some are at their best in the afternoon while their colleagues are facing a post-lunch slump. Work when it suits you best and you'll be more efficient, even if the hours you put in are less.
2. Get rid of distractions
When it's time to knuckle down and concentrate, put away any distractions. Moving your phone away and turning off your email notifications will help. Working from home is a huge source of distraction, from the housework to the temptation of Netflix! Try to avoid it by utilising coworking spaces or other office space.
3. Take regular breaks
It's important to take regular breaks throughout the day, even if it's only five minutes here and there. Stop, breathe and make yourself a cup or tea/coffee. It's simple but effective!
4. Implement boundaries
Solid, healthy boundaries are a must for freelancers. Without boundaries, you'll end up working too many hours, your output will suffer, and so will your love of whatever it is that you do. Learn to say 'no,' learn when enough is enough, and learn to switch the out of office on now and again.
5. Embrace coworking
Try coworking to meet like-minded people in your community that inspire you. Ask them questions, exchange your working hacks with theirs, and put the kettle on - we think it's the best way to work!
